Rene D. Zweig, Ph.D., Director
Rene D. Zweig, Ph.D., Director of Union Square Cognitive Therapy, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Certified Cognitive Therapist. Dr. Zweig graduated from the University of Michigan and earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Rutgers University. She completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Yale University School of Medicine and a postdoctoral fellowship at the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy. Prior to establishing Union Square Cognitive Therapy, she directed the Eating Disorders and Weight Management Program at the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy.
Dr. Zweig specializes in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, body image, substance abuse, perfectionism, and life transitions. In addition to providing individual therapy for adults, she developed the Keep It Off weight management program, which incorporates cognitive, behavioral, acceptance, and emotion regulation techniques for long-term weight control. Her Keep It Off program has been adopted for use within the United Kingdom National Health Service.
Dr. Zweig is committed to training other mental health professionals and students in cognitive-behavioral therapy. She supervises psychology trainees at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, and she regularly supervises other licensed professionals. She has participated in grand rounds and been invited to present at Bellevue Hospital, Lincoln Hospital, the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and the Oxford Adult Eating Disorders Service in the United Kingdom. Dr. Zweig has presented research and received industry awards at national conferences. She is co-authoring a book on the treatment of Bulimia Nervosa with Dr. Robert Leahy.
