Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make an appointment?
If you are interested in setting up an initial appointment, please call Union Square Cognitive Therapy. A brief, complimentary phone consultation is available prior to scheduling an appointment to answer your questions and to ensure that this therapy is a good match for your needs. It is important to find a therapist with the expertise to help you meet your treatment goals, and with whom you feel comfortable.
How often will I come to therapy?
The majority of clients attend weekly therapy sessions. Each therapy session, including the initial consultation, is 45 minutes. However, therapy can be customized to be more or less intensive depending on your goals, the severity of your symptoms, and our respective schedules. Although it varies among individual clients, cognitive-behavioral treatment lasts, on average, for 6-12 months.
Do you accept insurance?
Union Square Cognitive Therapy does not accept any insurance directly, though most of our clients use their out-of-network benefits to receive some reimbursement for session fees. Clients are billed directly for therapy sessions. Each bill includes the necessary information for submission to your insurance company.
How do I determine whether insurance will reimburse me for sessions?
As a first step, you should check with your insurance provider to determine their reimbursement rate for out-of-network individual psychotherapy sessions (CPT Code 90806) in the 10003 zip code. Your insurance company can also inform you as to whether they require preauthorization for treatment, have an annual deductible, or limit the number of annual sessions.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment is accepted by cash, check, Visa or Mastercard at the time of each session.
